SNMP
A TCP/IP protocol, ports 161 &162, used for managing networks. An agent in an SNMP- compliant device stores configuration data about itself in its MIB that can be queried/set from a SNMP management workstation that, without proper security settings and firewalls, can be located anywhere on the Internet. The agent can also monitor and store/report on data in traffic passing through the device.
