NOS
Software that adds networking features to augment a basic operating system and facilitate connecting computers and other devices into a local-area network (LAN), especially where the core OS has little networking capability, such as DOS. MAC OS, Unix, Linux, and Windows 95/later have such features integrally built into the OS, negating the need for separate NOS software.
