INTERFACE
In the OSI model, the boundary between adjacent layers in a stack. Interface standards specify both the formats and timing sychronization required to pass information across the interface. Between intreconnected systems, the collection of protocols and services incorporated in a given number of OSI layers, as in the 3-layer X.25 interface allowing Layer 4 transport layer transparency across the entire network.
