FAT
Part of the DOS, early Windows, and OS/2 operating systems, the table uses to locate files (and all file fragments) on a disk. Early versions called FAT16 are limited to adressing 2 GB disk partitions. Later versions uses FAT32, allowing adressing of up yo 2 TB partition. Replaced in newer systems by NTFS.
